This was a sketch challenge from splitcoaststampers, but since some of you don't browse that site, or are new at stamping and need a little more help I wanted to do a little tutorial for you because this produces such a nice card.
Step 1:
For layer 1 - cut one piece of card stock 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".
For layer 2 - cut another peice of coordinating c/s 8 1/2 x 4.
Step 3:
For layer 3 - cut another piece of c/s 3 x 6
Step 4:
Cut another piece for layer 4 whatever size you want, mine were 2 3/4 x 2 3/4 and 2 1/2 x 2 1/2.
Ink up a background stamp and stamp on the long inside side of layer 2.
NOTE: If you do not have any background stamps you can also use a smaller image stamped repeatedly to create a background as in step 6.
Step 6:
Use the small image in a coordinating pattern to stamp repeatedly on the opposite side and the small end of layer 2. You will have to ink up your stamp in between each impression.
Step 7:
Stamp your main image on your top layer. I used this leaf and acorn stamp from Country Blessings and stamped it in basic brown on vanilla paper.
Step 8:
Use your blender pen to water color your main image. The best way to do this is to squeeze your ink pad while it is closed. This will create a small palette of ink on the inside of the lid which you can dip your pen into to pick up the color. When you want to use a different color, simply scribble on a scrap piece of paper until the ink runs clear and repeat in a new color. I used several colors as pictured above.
Step 9:
Distress the edges of your main image. If you don't have a paper distress like the one pictured here you can use the edge of your scissor blade, or even a finger nail. All you're really doing is roughing up the edges.
Using a permanent adhesive, attach all of the layers of your card as shown here. Be sure to put any embellishments in place before adhering your layers if necessary. Your main image will go on the opposite side of layer 3 (the red layer here).
Step 11:
Stamp a greeting on the inside of your card and finish!
I'd love to see some of your art work, feel free to submit it at Box 1675, Rosetown, SK Canada S0L 2V0
